Chimney Services in Reno & Sparks

Everything a chimney needs over its life, from the annual sweep to masonry repair. Every service below is available across Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County — call (775) 555-0199 for a quote.

Chimney Sweeping & Creosote Removal

The core service. Rotary rods and brushes remove creosote, soot, and blockages from the flue liner, smoke chamber, smoke shelf, and firebox while a HEPA vacuum keeps dust out of your home. Sweeping restores proper draft — fires light easier and burn cleaner — and removes the fuel a chimney fire needs. If your chimney has heavy, glazed (stage 3) creosote from years without service, we'll tell you honestly what it will take to bring it back.

Chimney Inspections

Three levels, following the NFPA 211 standard:

  • Level 1 — visual inspection of accessible parts of the chimney. Included with every sweep; right for a system that gets annual service and hasn't changed.
  • Level 2 — adds a camera scan of the full flue interior plus attic and roof access. Required when a property is sold, after any chimney fire or earthquake damage, or when changing the fuel type or appliance.
  • Level 3 — invasive inspection where concealed damage is suspected. Rare, and only recommended when a Level 2 finds evidence that demands it.

Buying or selling a home in Reno? A standard home inspection does not look inside the flue. A Level 2 chimney inspection protects both sides of the sale.

Wood Stove & Pellet Stove Cleaning

Freestanding stoves and inserts are everywhere in Washoe County, and they work harder than open fireplaces — hotter fires, longer burn times, and stovepipe runs that collect creosote fast. Service covers the stovepipe, baffle, catalytic combustor where fitted, door gaskets, and the full exhaust path. Pellet stoves get ash traps, burn pot, and exhaust blower passages cleaned so igniters and augers keep working when the cold hits.

Chimney Repair & Masonry Work

Reno's freeze-thaw cycles and high desert wind are hard on masonry. Water gets into hairline cracks, freezes, and opens them wider every winter. We repair:

  • Cracked or spalling chimney crowns
  • Deteriorated mortar joints (tuckpointing/repointing)
  • Damaged firebox brick and mortar
  • Flashing leaks where the chimney meets the roof
  • Smoke chamber parging

Catching crown and mortar damage early is the difference between a few hundred dollars of repair and a multi-thousand-dollar rebuild.

Chimney Caps & Dampers

An uncapped flue is an open hole in your roof. Caps keep out rain and snowmelt, birds and squirrels, and wind-blown debris — all common causes of blockages and flue damage in the Truckee Meadows. We supply and install stainless steel caps sized to your flue, and repair or replace throat and top-sealing dampers that no longer close (a leading cause of heat loss in winter).

Gas Fireplace Service

Gas log sets and inserts still need periodic attention: glass cleaning, burner and pilot checkover, ember bed refresh, and a venting check. If your gas fireplace won't light, cycles off, or smells odd when running, have it looked at before the heating season.
